• Event organisers are advised to make bookings at DEC as soon as possible with calendar filling up

• Expo’s connectivity, entertainment and hospitality offerings attracting elite events and delegates

• Landmark venue features cutting-edge technology throughout 45,000 sqm of customisable space

Bookings are flowing in from around the world to host exhibitions, conferences and meetings at Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), a state-of-the art facility co-located at Expo 2020 Dubai, and event organisers are urged to avoid missing out by registering their interest as soon as possible.

Opening to coincide with the start of Expo 2020 on 20 October 2020, DEC will feature the latest developments in technology, including high-speed 5G connectivity and best-in-class audio visual facilities.

Its co-location within the Expo 2020 site in Dubai South places delegates at the centre of the world’s greatest meeting of minds.

More than 200 international participants will showcase their trade and investment opportunities and latest breakthroughs for 173 days until Expo closes on 10 April 2021.

It is no surprise the venue is proving so attractive to event organisers. Expo 2020 will showcase the best that 192 participating countries have to offer, along with multinational organisations and corporations that will be highlighting their solutions to create a better future for all. Additionally, there will be more than 200 food and beverage outlets, as well as the opportunity to experience the best of global art, music, architecture, science, culture and literature at 60 live events every day.

A cornerstone of the Expo 2020 legacy plan, DEC will help the UAE build on its thriving meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector. The 45,000 square metres of programmable space – capable of staging immersive event formats and the latest developments in audience participation – can be configured for all types of events, including conferences, exhibitions, summits, banquets, product launches, indoor concerts and weddings.

It has already been confirmed that DEC will host the World Government Summit and World Blockchain Summit, both in November 2020, and many more international events will be announced soon.

Dr Shaun Vorster, Vice President, Strategy and Business Integration - Programming at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “Expo 2020 Dubai will be the world’s greatest show of human brilliance and achievement and, as a convening power, no event on the planet will offer more exceptional business networking potential, as well as tangible opportunities for fostering trade and investment, and knowledge transfer.

“With Dubai Exhibition Centre on its doorstep, the possibilities for corporates, governments and associations to stage outstanding business events are tremendous. The calendar is filling up fast and we urge event organisers seeking a high-tech and fully customisable facility that offers unprecedented connectivity with global audiences to book soon. There are only 173 days to be part of this exceptional global gathering of business leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists and policy-makers.”

With 25,000 media accreditations expected at Expo 2020 Dubai, there is also significant potential for international news reporting of events and announcements staged at DEC. Further demonstrating the truly global opportunity that DEC presents, Expo 2020 expects to welcome 25 million visits during its six-month duration, with 70 per cent of visitors expected to come from outside the UAE, the largest proportion of international visitors in the 168-year history of World Expos.

A 3D animated fly-through showcases the world-class venue that is spread across two campuses, housing 14 multi-purpose halls, four suites and 24 meeting rooms.

About World Expos

In 1851 the Crystal Palace was the centrepiece of London’s Great Exhibition – the first World Expo. It celebrated the man-made industrial wonders of a rapidly changing world. Architecture, contents and a theme, ‘Industry of All Nations’, were combined to create a big idea of nations meeting nations in shared technological and commercial progress. In more recent years, participants in World Expos, including governments, international organisations and companies, have gathered to find solutions to universal challenges and to promote their achievements, products, ideas, innovations, their national brand, and their nations as destinations for tourism, trade and investment.

World Expos are held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organisation responsible for overseeing and regulating international exhibitions (‘Expos’) and for fostering their core values of Education, Innovation and Cooperation. Today, four types of Expos are organised under the BIE’s auspices: World Expos, Specialised Expos, Horticultural Expos and the Triennale di Milano.
